Order Made Dismantling ~CKD~

Technical Terminology Introduction Series! ~ CKD for Kenya Market ~

Have you ever faced an unfamiliar jargon when buying used engines or used spare parts in Nairobi or Mombasa?

Today, we introduce CKD (Complete Knock Down) — a keyword that every Kenya used auto parts buyer should know when sourcing Japanese used car parts.

What is a CKD?

CKD = Complete Knock Down.
This is a dismantling export method where all parts of a vehicle are shipped separately in Kenya.

Why does this matter in Kenya’s spare parts market?

・Import restrictions: When finished vehicles are restricted, CKD is the solution.

・Lower risk of damage: Parts are loaded separately into the container, reducing shipping risks.

・Cost saving: More units can be loaded in one container compared to complete cars.

In short, CKD makes sense for garages, mechanics, and spare parts shops in Nairobi, Kirinyaga Rd, and across Kenya.
